FAIRLIE
Todd Fairlie

Football

Coach Fairlie is the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Episcopal. He led the 2019 team to the Inter-Ac championship, and the 2012 team to a 10-0 record while capturing the Inter-Ac championship. He has been the Delaware County Coach of The Year and the Philadelphia Eagles Coach of The Week on two occasions. Before joining Episcopal, Coach Fairlie was a member of the football coaching staff at Widener University and a member of the lacrosse coaching staff at Widener and Ursinus College. He is a four-time NCAA All-American—twice in football and twice in lacrosse. He played professional lacrosse for two years and directed youth football camps for the Philadelphia Eagles and NXT sports.

Andy Fraggos

Girls' Soccer

Coach Andy Fraggos has served as EA’s head varsity girls’ soccer coach since 2016. Under his leadership, the team won the PAISAA championship in 2018 and the Inter-Ac championship in 2017. In addition to coaching at Episcopal Academy, Coach Fraggos is a USSF nationally-licensed coach and has been on staff as a New Jersey ODP Coach since 2011. Previously, he served as the Rosemont College women’s soccer assistant coach (2015-2016). Coach Fraggos is a graduate of Towson University where he played Division I Soccer.

David Knox

Boys' Soccer

Coach David Knox has served as the Head Coach for the Varsity Boys' Soccer Program since 2009. He led the team to a 2nd place finish in the competitive Inter-Ac league in both the 2015 and 2016 seasons. In addition to running the EA varsity program, Coach Knox has been the Director of Coaching for Main Line Soccer since 2011. Previously, he coached at the Charlotte County Day school (2002-2009) for both the Boys' and Girls' varsity programs. Coach Knox brings tremendous international experience to The Episcopal Academy having served as the head coach and athletic director at the Bavarian International in Munich, Germany from 1995-2000 and the Head Coach for the Croxteth Community Comprehensive School in Liverpool England from 1993-1995.

Whit Powell

Tennis

Coach Whit Powell has served as EA varsity girls’ tennis head coach and varsity boys’ tennis assistant coach since 2001. Under his guidance, the girls’ team has won 16 Inter-Ac titles, and the boys’ team has won seven. He was named Coach of the Year by the United States Tennis Association’s Philadelphia Chapter in 2018. In addition to his work at EA, Coach Powell has been the tennis director for ESF Tennis Camps for the past 10 years. In the past, he served as director of tennis at Camp Susquehannock.

TOMAINO
Josie Tomaino

Girls' Lacrosse

Coach Tomaino has served as the EA head varsity girls’ lacrosse coach since 2014. During her tenure, she has helped guide the program to both Inter-Ac (2014, 2017, 2018) and PA State (2016) championships. In 2016, she was named Philly Lacrosse High Honorable Mention Girls’ Coach of the Year. In addition to coaching at EA, Coach T is also the co-owner/director of Philly Blast Lacrosse. Prior to coaching at EA, Coach T served as the assistant coach at Villanova (2012-2013). At Haverford College, she was a selected 4x All-Conference, 4x All-Region and was named IWLCA All-American in 2011.

Chuck Simmonds

Girls' Basketball

Coach Simmonds has served as the head varsity girls' basketball coach since 2004. He has led the team to two league titles (2013, 2014) and the 2013 state title, the same year the team was ranked #1 by the Delco Daily Times Super 7. In the last five seasons, EA Girls' Basketball has not only finished 1st or 2nd in the Inter-Ac league, but has also placed in The Philadelphia Inquirer Top 10 or Honorable Mention City Rankings. Prior to coaching at EA, Coach Simmonds was the assistant coach at Archbishop Carroll, Bryn Mawr College, and Marple Newtown, as well as the Athletic Director for Holy Child Academy located in Drexel Hill. Coach Simmonds also has over 16 years of experience coaching at the AAU level for the Comets.

Doug Borgerson

Golf

Coach Doug Borgerson has been head coach of EA’s varsity boys’ golf team since 2011. Under his guidance, the team won its first-ever PAISAA championship in 2019, the Inter-Ac championship in 2016, and has finished top 3 of PAISAA every year since its inception in 2011. The team competes on a national level, playing prestigious tournaments like the Honda Classic High School Invitational. Coach Borgerson has 25 years of youth coaching experience and has served as chairman of PAISAA Golf since 2011.
